Most of those who have attended some of the fun-filled musical workshops have a copy of the “Hungry Worm” C.D. and Alphabet Booklet to go along with the C.D.  This delightful book and C.D. was written by Joelene Griffith and illustrated by John Barnes. It’s been used with K-4th grade classes for different skills ranging from listening, memorizing, rhyme, rhythm, sequence, main character, prediction, ABC order, segmenting words and sentences, adding “s” and “ing”,  phrasing, expression, cause & effect, subject and predicate, vocabulary development, expressing opinions, to relating life experiences to text. “Music allow us to transcend our own world and partake in utterly different realities, by R. Can Come Alive
Through the Magic of
MUSIC in the Classroom!
Just ask a Perry County Pre-school, or K-1 teacher in your school about the great music tips they learned from the Learning Workshop Company.

Text Box:       You may use any “All About Me” graphic organizers to suit your grade level needs. Some simple topics to write about may include: “My Favorite Foods, Favorite Places, Words that Best Describe Me, My Favorite Things to Do, and My Favorite Subjects.”  Sentence starters are great ideas such as “When I am age 25…”  While applying writing this way, writing becomes special instead of a dreaded chore. The teacher may also be the scribe for the student and let the student verbalize their answer. Proofing may or may not be a part of the lesson according to your objectives.

Text Box: Use an “All About Me” activity to get to know your students.  It will provide a tool to make your students feel more comfortable beginning a new grade level, or being in a new classroom with peers they do not know.
