Child Find
(Conducted by the Perry County
Special Education Department for Children 3-21)
If you are the parent of a preschool
child between the ages of 3-5 and have concerns about an area of your
child's development, you are encouraged to call and schedule a preschool
screening appointment for your child. Screening will include the areas
of vision, hearing, fine motor, gross motor, speech/language, and
cognitive functioning. For an appointment you may contact one of the
following:
Rosemary Turnbow, Board of
Education, 931-589-2102
Mary Linda Crosby, Linden Elementary, 931-589-2531
Mary Cruse, Linden Elementary, 931-589-2531
Heather Moore, Lobelville Elementary, 931-593-2354
Child Find is also conducted for
students ages 6-21 who have, or are suspected of having special needs.
Referral for evaluations for Special Education services are frequently
initiated by school staff, but can also be initiated by parents.
Parents who suspect their child may have special needs that would
require an evaluation for Special Education services, should contact
either the Special Education resource teacher in the student's home
school or Rosemary Turnbow, Special Education Supervisor at
(931)-589-2102.
These services are provided by the
Perry County Special Education Staff and are at no cost to the parents.
Child Find is available to all Perry County students including private
school, homeless, transient, and migrant students.
